Engineered Air make-up air unit replacement in Toronto
An aging make-up air unit replaced with a new Engineered Air packaged unit, delivered by flatbed and lifted by mobile crane onto the roof of a historic brick complex.
An older make-up air unit on the roof of a historic brick complex in Toronto was due for replacement. The new unit had to sit on the existing structural steel, match the size and performance of a sister unit on the property, and be lifted by crane from the parking area, over the buildings.
- Replaced the old unit with a new Engineered Air FWX453 packaged heating, cooling and ventilation unit supplying 100% outside air.
- Had the unit built with a matching base frame to sit on the existing structural steel frame.
- Delivered it to site by flatbed and lifted it onto the roof by mobile crane with spreader bars.
- Unit features include a 20:1 high-turndown gas burner, a stainless steel drum and tube heat exchanger, packaged DX cooling with compressor staging, and high-efficiency blower motors.
- Discharge air controls include an adjustable setpoint from the building automation system.
