A VRF heat pump system: a rooftop outdoor unit, indoor units in a mechanical room, and insulated refrigerant piping between them.
A variable refrigerant flow (VRF) system lets one outdoor unit heat and cool several zones. The photos show the rooftop outdoor unit during start-up, and the indoor units and branch piping in the mechanical room.
- Set the VRF outdoor unit on a raised steel frame on the roof.
- Installed the indoor units and a refrigerant branch box in the mechanical room.
- Ran insulated refrigerant piping on strut supports.
